Of course my friend Niklas needs a tailored modification for his ‘yak! Only thing is…time!

So, he asked me to make some small adjustments in October. Specifically, it should fit him better, roll better, if possible get prettier and paddle better. No pressure 🙂 So I stripped the skin off of it a week later and there was no going back.

Then the world stopped and held it’s breath

Or not… Instead I started coding like crazy (usually my daytime job) and spent all my waking time working. 7 days a week, no less then 12h a day but often more. Not healthy in the long run. Come Cristmas and there were finally a few days when the phone didn’t ring and I could concentrate on some more work… Not healthy. Then a few months more of the same and I was starting to feel the weight of my ass, not only on the chair. Not healthy and not pleasant either.

So, one would think, why? Why all that work? Or why make a perfectly functional kayak into scraps of wood? Well, for starters, Niklas is not the same size as the original builder, who built it for himself. Second, it did not have the properties the new owner wanted. Third, I’m gonna surprise him with the properties he wanted and a few upgrades, while showing off the modifications here. Do you believe it is possible or not? You be the judge.

Writing this and it’s Easter holidays already, the latter half of April. I have been busy messing with his kayak a couple of days and here be pictures! Since I have a trigger happy finger, I will post this ongoing. This article will be sporadically updated. If you’re interested, stay tuned!
